Unlike more advanced designs such as the Barrier Container Seal, the Neptune does not include an ABS coating on the steel pin. As a result, the metal is more susceptible to corrosion, especially when exposed to seawater. There may also be minor space between the pin and barrel. To minimize the risk of tampering, it is recommended to apply the seal with the barrel facing upward, making it harder to manipulate using tools or chemicals.
