A twistlock connects the corner fittings of two containers, or of a container and a deck, with a rotating lock. Navacqs supplies twistlocks for two situations: securing containers to a ship’s deck or pontoon, and stacking containers on top of each other.
For securing to a deck, there are twistlocks that fit into a deck socket and can therefore be removed. The Dovetail Twistlock BF-11 slides into the Deck Socket DF-31 from the side. The Breech Base Twistlock BF-66 is inserted from above into the Breech Base Deck Socket DF-66 and is often used with flush deck sockets.
The Intermediate Twistlock IF-51 sits between two stacked containers and is locked by hand. It is available in a left hand and a right hand locking version. The Semi Automatic Twistlock IF-55 locks automatically as soon as the upper container is set down. This saves a handling step with every container.
The twistlocks are made of galvanised steel. The zinc coating protects against corrosion from seawater and weather, which is needed for use on deck and at open terminals.
