The Stainless Steel Sealing Wire 50/30 is the corrosion resistant version of the Sealing Wire 50/30. It is made from 304L stainless steel and has a breaking strength of 13 kg. That makes it suitable for sealing outdoors, in damp areas and wherever a seal needs to stay in place for a long time. It comes on a 100 m spool.
304L against corrosion
304L is a low carbon grade of stainless steel. Moisture, rain and salty air have little effect on the wire. Galvanised wire, by contrast, can start to rust over time. A seal therefore stays intact and legible even after years outdoors.
13 kg breaking strength
The galvanised Sealing Wire 50/30 has a breaking strength of 7 kg. At 13 kg, the stainless steel version is close to double that. This gives an extra margin on machines, cabinets and installations that are moved regularly or exposed to vibration.
Same 50/30 construction
The stainless steel version also has a 0.5 mm core wire wrapped with a 0.3 mm wire, giving a total diameter of 1.1 mm. It fits the same seals and works with the same sealing pliers as the galvanised wire.
Seals for outdoor use
In a damp environment, the wire is only one part of the seal. Plastic or aluminium seals are the better choice there, as they also resist moisture and corrosion. That way, wire and seal last equally long.
Applications: meters and installations
The wire seals gas, electricity and water meters, technical equipment and machinery, for example offshore. Meters are sealed by or on behalf of the network operator. Only a certified installer may apply or replace that seal.
