The Breech Base Twistlock BF-66 is designed for firmly locking sea containers to the underlying surface. Thanks to its smart construction, this twistlock is ideal for situations with limited space, such as inland vessels or ships with recessed deck plates. The BF-66 is made from high-quality galvanized steel, providing resistance to seawater, weather conditions and long-term use.
The BF-66 is designed exclusively for use with the Breech Base Base Plate DF-66. The lower part of the twistlock fits precisely into this base plate, allowing it to lock securely into the deck or into a recessed socket. The BF-66 can be easily welded into place, which is convenient when containers must be positioned close together. The DF-66 base plate can also be used with the Breech Base Lashing Eye LP-21, allowing fast switching between locking containers and securing loads with chains or tensioning straps.
A key advantage of the BF-66 is that it can be placed in all four directions. This makes it possible to combine containers in different positions or fit them onto decks with unusual layouts. The additional flexibility makes the twistlock suitable for applications ranging from inland shipping to offshore transport.
The BF-66 is available in both left-locking and right-locking versions. In both variants, the container is secured by turning the handle, which engages and locks the twist mechanism. Many users choose to use both left- and right-locking versions together so that all handles face inward when placed between tightly stacked containers. This prevents damage and ensures safe handling.
The BF-66 is made from hot-dip galvanized steel (45#) and heat-treated. This finish protects against corrosion caused by seawater and ensures a long service life, even under harsh conditions. The inner twist mechanism features a manganese insert that ensures smooth rotation and prevents wear. The handle stays firmly in place and cannot accidentally fold back, contributing to safety and reliability.
The BF-66 has a breaking strength of 500 kN (≈50 tons) and weighs 5.7 kg. Technical drawings and 3D files are available for integration into construction plans or engineering projects. For advice or custom solutions, you can contact the Navacqs team.
