The stackers are highly suitable for stacking empty containers at terminals and depots. The IF-91 cannot be locked manually for additional safety, as is possible with the IF-51. When containers are stacked to full height, using the Intermediate Twistlock IF-51 is recommended.

Difference from a traditional twistlock

The IF-91 differs from the IF-51 Intermediate Twistlock in two key ways. Firstly, the IF-91 Depot Stackers can be placed even when the container corner is not within hand reach. This supports faster stacking of containers. Secondly, the IF-91 does not need to be locked. This saves time and avoids the practical challenge of rotating the handle at height. One consequence of the IF-91 not locking is that it is only suitable for stacking containers on the terminal or depot floor. For stacking containers on board a vessel, both the Intermediate Twistlock IF-51 and the Semi Automatic Twistlock IF-56 are suitable options.
