Cargo theft is sadly still rising in 2025. Figures from research into cargo theft by Girteka, a TAPA member, recorded 634 incidents in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in June alone. Criminal networks target goods that are quick to sell on, such as electronics, food, pharmaceuticals and car parts. The introduction of the smart tachograph (G2V2) took many trucks off the road temporarily, causing capacity shortages and last-minute route changes. The result? More unplanned stops at unguarded locations, exactly when thieves strike.
The Andis 1100 Kingpin Lock is certified Kiwa SCM Heavy Duty and comes with an Abloy® Protec² cylinder, including a key certificate. Thanks to the rubber housing and handle, the trailer lock is easy to fit and the cylinder is well shielded. The housing is fully enclosed and corrosion resistant. The lock can be supplied keyed alike or as part of a master key system, depending on the configuration within your fleet.
Locking containers with certified locks
Two suitable options are available for securing container or trailer doors:
SBS Turtle Container Lock: made of powder coated stainless steel, with Kiwa SCM certification and TAPA TSR Level 2/3. The padlock (Abloy® PL-358T, CEN 5) is fully enclosed in the housing.
Cobra Container Lock: the same security certifications, but adjustable from 240 to 460 mm. This makes it suitable for almost any container. Here too, the padlock is fully shielded.
Both locks are available with a key certificate and can be supplied keyed alike or as part of a master key system.

Seal containers with ISO/PAS 17712 high security seals
Make any attempt at tampering visible with seals certified to ISO/PAS 17712. For example, combine locks with:
Record the serial number of every seal, take photos at departure and arrival, and link them to GPS data. This helps meet insurers’ requirements and avoid disputes in case of damage or loss.
Protect your cargo against theft
A good security plan combines technology with clear procedures. Consider:
✓ The Andis 1100 Kingpin Lock, which prevents coupling while parked
✓ The SBS Turtle or Cobra Container Lock, keeping the container closed in transit
✓ High security seals that make tampering visible and can be traced
✓ A clear log recording release and handover moments
Also make sure drivers and planners know exactly who is authorised where and when, and use pre-approved parking locations.
