The Dovetail Twistlock BF-11 is a practical solution to quickly and safely lock a sea container from the underside. In combination with the Deck Socket DF-31, it creates a removable and user-friendly twistlock system for containers, bulk carriers or custom constructions. The BF-11 is available in both left- and right-locking versions and is designed for heavy-duty use in demanding environments.
The Dovetail Twistlock BF-11 is placed onto the four corner points of a container. By turning the handle, the twistlock locks into the container’s corner casting. This creates a secure connection to the deck or a steel construction. Thanks to its robust construction, the twistlock is suitable for both transport and storage of containers.
The BF-11 can be easily slid into and out of the Deck Socket DF-31. This base plate is permanently welded to the deck, while the twistlock itself remains removable. This is ideal for situations with alternating loads: containers can be firmly secured, while at other times different cargo can be transported without obstacles on the deck. Vehicles can drive over the low-profile Deck Socket DF-31 without issue.
You can choose between the left-locking or right-locking BF-11. The functionality of both versions is identical. Many users combine both types so that the handles point inward for correct locking. If you prefer simplicity and speed, choose four twistlocks of the same type. This prevents mix-ups and reduces the chance of user error.
The Dovetail Twistlock BF-11 is made from ZG45 cast steel with a hot-dip galvanized finish. This ensures excellent resistance to seawater, rust and wear. The twistlock remains easy to operate thanks to the internal manganese insert and sealed bearing that prevent the handle from rotating unintentionally.
By default, the BF-11 is supplied with a 45-degree handle, but a 55-degree version is available on request. If you wish to weld the twistlock permanently to the deck without using the Deck Socket DF-31, we recommend first removing the zinc layer and heating the steel to 300 °C before welding. Technical drawings in .pdf and .stp format are available for engineers and technical departments.
